A Photo of Byrne

Posted on

Just to get things started, here’s one of my favorite photographs of Byrne. She’s posing for some publicity photos, in the early days of the Byrne Miller Dance Theatre. None of her adopted “children” know exactly where it was taken, but we all love the fierceness of it. Don’t you agree?

I think she was in her sixties, that’s the age she was in another of the photos that I have of her and I think they were all done at the start of the Byrne Miller Dance Theatre. In the beginning, it was a performance company and then after a season or two in Beaufort she changed it to a presentation organization. Thanks for the feedback. I’ll be picking your brain on this whole blogging thing as I go along. My agent says I need to get 3,000 followers to have a “platform” that interests publishers. Isn’t that insane?

Love your definition of “womenisms,” and have enjoyed reading your first comments. I remember Byrne and her fierce determination to get things done, and that photo of her captures that intensity. Even in her older years, her physical challenges couldn’t hide her intensity. I’m looking forward to reading more of your thoughts about her, and to see more of her quotes!

So, if you need 3,000 followers, count me in!

Thanks! I think I shocked poor Lolita with the definition. Oh well, she forgives me. It’s great to know that you remember her, and why. Beaufort could use more like her these days.
